A charming wrought iron garden chair from early to mid-20th century France, typical of those found on sunny terraces and in courtyard gardens. The backrest features simple, symmetrical scrollwork that gently resembles a butterfly. The seat is made from a classic lattice of iron straps and rests on four slender legs that splay slightly outward, ending in small pad feet. Compact and well balanced, it has a light appearance despite its solid construction.
The original green paint shows natural wear, with areas of flaking that create a layered, timeworn patina. Light surface rust adds to its character. The condition is consistent with age and outdoor use, giving the chair an authentic and honest charm.
This chair would be equally at home on a stone terrace alongside a bistro table, tucked into a walled garden, or brought indoors as a sculptural accent in a hallway or bedroom corner. Paired with a linen cushion or left bare, it brings an effortless note of French country elegance to any setting, sitting comfortably between decorative object and functional seat.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
