This elegant French Art Deco vitrine, circa 1930, is a vertical and narrow form with a faceted silhouette, glazed on three sides and fitted with a mirrored back to maximize light. The case is crafted in deep mahogany and framed with brass bands, which are rhythmically punctuated by small visible screws, a refined machine-age detail. The front door opens with its original key to reveal three height-adjustable glass shelves. Set on a plinth base with a flat top that offers additional pedestal-style display, the vitrine presents in very good condition, with minor surface wear to the mahogany, light oxidation to the brass, and a few small marks consistent with age and use.
Conceived for elegant presentation in salons and high-end boutiques, vitrines of this period combined geometric clarity with luxurious materials. The adjustable glass shelves allowed collectors to arrange objects, porcelain, or crystal of varying heights in a display that was both practical and refined.
This vitrine remains highly versatile for modern interiors. Its slender footprint and glazing make it ideal for a living room, library, or study, where it can showcase ceramics, barware, or curios. Positioned so that ambient light grazes the brass and glass, it creates a sophisticated play of surface and reflection.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
