Elegant French Art Deco Brass and Cut-Crystal Four-Light Chandelier, in the Style of Adnet - 23¼" x 20¾"

This elegant French Art Deco four-light chandelier, dating from the 1930s or 1940s, combines warm brass with clear faceted crystal in a restrained, highly architectural design. Four candle-style lights rise from sweeping ribbon-like brass arms, each supported by a tapered cut-crystal element that echoes the strongly geometric central stem. The stem itself is built from a succession of faceted crystal sections separated by rounded brass collars, descending into a shallow domed body and small finial below. The gently aged brass retains a warm glow, with light spotting and patina consistent with its age. Its combination of clean lines, polished metal and sharply cut crystal is characteristic of the refined simplicity of the Art Deco period, with a look reminiscent of the work of Jacques Adnet.

The chandelier has been carefully restored and rewired in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence by a passionate specialist in historic lighting working closely with Mathieu Lustrerie, the renowned Provençal atelier specializing in the restoration and creation of fine historic lighting. The restoration has focused on preserving the original materials and patina while ensuring high-quality, safe electrification for modern use.

The balance between simplicity and ornament feels particularly chic: The sweeping brass arms give the chandelier a fluid, architectural silhouette, while the faceted crystal adds a restrained touch of sparkle.
