An elegant pair of French two-light table lamps in the manner of André Arbus, 1940s. Each medium-scale lamp presents a sculptural plaster body in soft ivory with symmetrical S-scroll arms, a low domed base, and a central ring finial in brass, accented by warm brass collars and rims. Fitted with newly made cream pleated shades finished with passementerie braid, they are in very good condition, with small scuffs to the painted plaster and light age wear to the brass, the shades pristine.
Though unmarked, the pair displays a vocabulary strongly reminiscent of André Arbus (1903-1969), whose elegant reinterpretation of classical forms helped define French decorative arts in the late Art Deco and immediate postwar years. The sculptural plaster body, brass detailing, restrained volutes, and balanced proportions all echo characteristics associated with his work.
Ideal flanking a console, sideboard, or mantel, the pair combines neoclassical refinement with a lightness and modernity that feels both architectural and decorative. Their quiet ivory and brass suit both period schemes and contemporary spaces, bridging Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, and restrained classical interiors with poised, sculptural warmth.
