Enchanting Pair of Antique Ormolu Candlesticks Converted into Lamps w/ Peridot Organza Shades - 22"

This charming pair of table lamps was created from 19th-century ormolu candlesticks, richly modeled in an ornate Romantic taste. Each rises from an elaborate asymmetrical base of scrolling foliage, with a slender, twisting stem almost entirely enveloped in sculpted grapevines. Small pewter birds perch among the gilt decoration near the base, the darker tone of the metal highlighting this delicate detail. Each lamp is topped with a custom shade in peridot-green organza, whose translucent weave allows the illuminated bulb to remain softly visible through the fabric. The combination of the fresh peridot green, warm gold and silvery pewter creates at jewel-like palette, while the tall geometric shades give the ornate bases a lighter, more contemporary presence.

The candlesticks have been sensitively adapted and electrified in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence by a passionate specialist in historic lighting working closely with Mathieu Lustrerie, the renowned Provençal workshop specializing in the restoration and creation of fine lighting. Particular care has been given to the quality and safety of the electrification while respecting the original objects. The electrical fittings are removable and designed in two parts, allowing the pieces to be returned to their original function as candlesticks if desired.

 The luminous organza, brilliant ormolu and small pewter birds give the pair a romantic, jewel-like character that would work especially well on bedside tables in an elegant, softly layered bedroom, or on a pair of small chests in a sitting room.
