Dating from the late-nineteenth century, this exquisite large-scale Napoleon III mirror is a masterpiece. The faux bamboo frame (sculpted from wood) is beautifully gilded and adorned with grapes and vines. The pediment features a wreath and bird. It is likely from a wine growing region - perhaps Burgundy or Champagne.
Note two very minor losses on the leaves on the bottom and right side of the frame as seen in photos. Note some of the red undercoat beneath the gilding is visible, not uncommon for gilded antiques. This mirror will be the focal point of any room.
Note: Mirrors have been photographed facing fabric, a technique that reveals any age spots in the glass. In some cases, this may create the appearance of an empty frame, but each mirror is complete except where explicitly stated.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
