This exceptional early twentieth century butcher’s sation is crafted in solid oak and stands out for its impressive height, weight, and commanding proportions. Originally designed for professional use, it is composed in two substantial sections and reflects the robust craftsmanship of trade furniture built to endure daily demands. The warm tone of the oak is enriched by time, while later additions bring distinctive character, including a sculptural bull’s head mounted at the center and a series of colorful livestock competition plaques added over time. These elements introduce a striking decorative layer that speaks to the pride of trade and personal history. The cabinet retains a later butcher’s block dating from the nineteen seventies, and the original marble surface has also been later replaced, underscoring its evolving working life. Altogether, it is a rare and visually powerful piece, remarkable both for its scale and its expressive details.
Today, this cabinet would make a dramatic focal point in a large kitchen, pantry, or restaurant space, where its generous shelving can be styled with a collection of antique plates, or copper cookware. Its strong vertical presence anchors a room, while the decorative bull’s head and plaques lend warmth, narrative, and individuality.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
