Extraordinary glazed ceramic "Tabac" jar w/ Haute Savoie village scene

SKU: 17041

US$653
This terrific, antique French glazed terracotta tobacco pot is skillfully and richly decorated to depict a hilltop village in the Haute Savoie region of the French alps. Note photos to see the charming details and region's name indicated in the Haute Savoie department of Isère, France, the pottery maker, and the date, "1930", hidden within the scene. The lid is topped with towers, one of which is marked "tabac". A fantastic conversation piece to add a touch of the French alps to your home. Could be used as a clever storage piece perhaps for extra keys at an entry. Note the top tower is missing some glaze.
