A faceted Art Deco box in a gem-like polyhedral form, crafted from richly figured solid thuya burl with deep chestnut and amber tones flecked with dark, swirling eyes. The top facet lifts on brass hinges, and the crisp planes with their warm, hand-rubbed finish emphasize its sculptural geometry. Dating from the 1930s or 1940s, such sculptural boxes were prized as table boxes for cigarettes, bonbons, or jewelry. Minor surface scratches and small marks attest to its age and gentle use.
Equally functional and decorative, it sits beautifully on a writing desk as a catchall, on a cocktail table to hold napkins, coasters and matches, or on a nightstand for jewelry. The faceted planes catch the light and bring warmth to minimalist spaces, while the burr wood pairs elegantly with marble, chrome, or lacquer. Use it as a subtle sculptural accent on shelving or a console to introduce Art Deco character without overwhelming a room.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
