A beautiful five-drawer walnut commode dating from the eighteenth century, France. This chest of drawers features three levels with a secret drawer situated between the top two drawers, reached by opening the drawers on either side first. The solid top features rounded edges, and the front of the drawers are characterized by hand-carved relief outlines. Its ornate bronze hardware is original and facilitates the smooth opening of each drawer. A superb piece to bring French charm and warmth to a bedroom as a functional storage piece for linens or clothes. Note wormwood holes consistent with pieces of this age. No keys.
