A 19th century French liturgical candlestick, later mounted as a table lamp in the early 20th century, this nicely proportioned piece is carved in warm walnut with a tri-form plinth edged by volutes and paw-like feet resting on globes. At its centre, a radiating ray motif symbolising divine light reflects the Baroque vocabulary long favoured in ecclesiastical décor. The stem rises with acanthus and laurel carving and is topped with an old parchment shade trimmed in woven braid. The wood has mellowed to a rich walnut-brown tone, while the shade reads in hues of honey and sand. A weathered surface, softened edges to the carving, and gentle creasing and age toning to the parchment all contribute to its authentic character.

Its gentle scale suits a bedside, a console beneath a gilt mirror, or a library side table where its parchment shade casts a soft, amber glow. Pair it with linen upholstery, natural limestone, or a stack of leather-bound books to underscore its ecclesiastical gravitas and invite a quiet, collected atmosphere.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
