Petite French Art Deco rabbit sculpture from the 1930s, cast in silvered metal and set on a softly veined beige marble plinth. The seated rabbit is rendered with a stylized, simplified silhouette, upright alert ears and gentle contours to the paws and muzzle that give the figure a poised, attentive presence. Its striking amber glass eyes animate the silvery surface, creating a vivid contrast with the softly aged metal, which shows scattered speckling and a mellowed patina from time.
This charming figurine reflects the streamlined sensibility of the interwar period and brings a lyrical touch to a console, mantel, or bookshelf. Nicely proportioned, it also makes a whimsical paperweight on a desk, or can lends a storybook note on nightstand in a guest room or child’s bedroom.
