French Art Deco White Ceramic Bathroom Console, circa 1930s - 31"

This French Art Deco ceramic bathroom console by Porcher dates to the 1930s. Its rectangular top features crisp stepped molding and rests on a tapered, faceted pedestal rising from an octagonal base, all finished in a luminous white glaze. Likely originally conceived as a two-part construction, the top and pedestal have been permanently joined at some point in their history. Designed to stand flush against a wall, the straight rear edge of the top is left unglazed. The piece is marked “Porcher” on the back of the top and remains in very good vintage condition, with only light wear consistent with age and no visible chips or cracks.

One of France’s leading manufacturers of sanitary ceramics, Porcher produced refined fixtures for private homes, hotels, and public buildings throughout the early 20th century. Consoles like this were typically placed beneath a mirror, providing a durable, hygienic surface for shaving accessories, perfumes, toiletries, and other grooming essentials. 

Today, the console brings a clean, sculptural presence to a bathroom, powder room, or dressing area. It can once again serve as a surface for perfumes and toiletries or be repurposed as a distinctive pedestal console in an entryway or living space, lending timeless Art Deco elegance to any setting.
