This elegant French Art Nouveau desk lamp, dating from the early 20th century, features a beautiful pâte-de-verre glass shade signed Muller Lunéville. Shaped like a downward-facing tulip, the shade has a gently flared, irregular edge and a delicate blend of colors, with soft cream, amber and green tones dissolving into deeper shades of blue and violet. It is held by a decorative floral metal fitting at the end of a gracefully curved arm, supported by a slender upright stem and circular stepped base. The height can be adjusted along the stem, allowing the light to be positioned as needed. The glass remains in good condition, while the metal has developed a rich, uneven patina, with areas of oxidation that complement the colors of the shade.
The watercolor-like glass contrasts beautifully with the dark, patinated metalwork, its colors becoming more vivid when illuminated. The tulip-shaped shade directs the light downward, making it particularly suited to a writing desk or a small table beside a reading chair. Its delicate form and beautiful colors bring a charming Art Nouveau touch to the room.
