This French biot jar dates to the 18th century. Originally used to store olives and olive oil. The rim has a creamy yellow glaze. An iconic and wonderfully proportioned pot suitable for both indoors and in the garden. There is a makers mark stamped into the rim and the face of the pot is beautifully weathered.
18th century biot jars can be identified by their more upright form than their younger 19th century counterparts.
