A small French cotton curtain, cut for a single window and finished with careful hemstitching — the drawn-thread technique in which threads are removed from the weave and the remaining threads bound into neat, evenly spaced clusters, forming a delicate ladder of open work.
At Chanteduc, Patricia and Walter's farmhouse and cooking school in Vaison-la-Romaine, curtains like this dressed the smaller interior rooms — a pantry, a bedroom, a casement looking onto the courtyard — filtering the Provençal light without blocking it entirely.
Today it works just as well hung at a bathroom or kitchen window, a garden room or a cottage casement.
Light wear.
