A charming French table dressing mirror from the early 19th century, richly inlaid with floral marquetry in warm walnut and fruitwoods. The shaped cresting and serpentine apron are adorned with finely detailed blossoms in honey and amber tones set against a deep chocolate ground, while the rectangular mirror plate sits within a chevron crossbanded frame raised on small pierced bracket feet, likely adapted at a later date to allow the mirror to be secured atop a dressing table or commode.
The mirror tilts smoothly on its original side pivots. A beautifully timeworn mercury plate showing pronounced desilvering and mottling lends the reflection a soft, atmospheric quality, alongside minor age-related wear to the veneer.
Ideal atop a bedroom commode, vanity, or hall console, it brings warmth, reflection, and a quiet sense of history to a space.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
