French Gilt-Bronze Palm Tree Table Lamp w/ Central Egg Form, Att. to Maison Charles c. 1960s - 23¾"

A striking French table lamp in the style of Maison Charles, dating from the 1960s or 1970s. The elegant composition centres on a large egg-form body, possibly lacquered or enamelled, mounted within a finely cast gilt-bronze structure surmounted by a crown of stylised palm fronds and raised on a turned baluster stem over an octagonal plinth. A discreet key allows the shade height to be adjusted by several centimetres. The bronze has acquired a beautifully mellow patina over time, with minor surface wear and light oxidation that contribute to the lamp's authentic character and decorative appeal. 

Inspired by the natural world, lamps like this became a hallmark of Parisian design in the 1950s and 1960s. Designers such as Maison Charles transformed palm fronds, sheaves of wheat, bamboo, and other botanical motifs into striking sculptural lighting, combining refined craftsmanship with the glamour and optimism of the post-war years.
