This unique French ironwork sign was hand-forged in the 1940s or 1950s as a custom creation for a blacksmith’s workshop (ferronnier). by the craftsman himself. It combines utility with artistry, spelling out “FERRONNIER” vertically alongside stylized representations of traditional blacksmith tools, including a key, tongs, and hammer. The bold, geometric lines and lettering reflect the lingering influence of the Art Deco movement, blending craftsmanship with graphic appeal. Entirely handmade from wrought iron, the sign carries a natural dark patina that enhances its sculptural quality. As a one-of-a-kind piece conceived specifically for this shop, it embodies the spirit of the artisan and his trade.
Whether displayed indoors or out, in a studio, entryway, or retail environment, this singular work adds depth, character, and a strong sense of French artisanal heritage to any space.
