Evoking the functional elegance of mid-century industrial design, this French station clock dates to the 1960s–1970s and was originally mounted sideways on a wall or pillar for visibility from both directions. Cast in heavy metal, the circular double-sided case holds two white translucent dials, each with bold black baton hour markers, a minute hash ring, and strong black hands behind glass lenses. Originally designed to function as a slave within a master clock system, receiving minute impulses from a central mechanism to synchronize all station displays, it can be fitted with a modern independent movement that would allow it to operate autonomously. Built for rear illumination, the clock retains its internal neon lighting, which once cast a soft, even glow through both dials for night visibility. The neon remains in place but is no longer functional. The metal casing shows a timeworn, weathered finish with scattered paint loss and traces of oxidation around the base and mounting points, while the dials and glass remain in good vintage condition with only minor marks.
Striking in scale and pared-back in line, this industrial French station clock was originally designed for wall mounting but displays beautifully when left freestanding on its pedestal-style base. Its sculptural form and clean geometry make it an eye-catching focal point for an entry, kitchen, studio, or loft where an authentic industrial accent is desired.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
