A charming French bedside table from the early 20th century in the Louis XV taste. Veneered in rosewood with a herringbone marquetry pattern, it has a warm, mellow glow. Three drawers with small brass knobs run smoothly, and a low gallery edge frames the shaped top. Slender cabriole legs are finished with delicate bronze sabots. The veneer shows light age-related wear, including faint scratches, but remains in good overall condition. The drawers are in excellent working order. A faint trace of an old label remains on the reverse, and there is a very slight wobble, easily remedied with a discreet felt pad.
Its slender proportions make it a versatile little piece for a bedroom, landing, or reading corner. Styled with a lamp, a bud vase, and a few antique books, it brings warmth and a note of French refinement to a room.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
