This elegant mid-20th-century silvered-metal ice bucket has a simple cylindrical form decorated with groups of fine incised horizontal lines around the upper and lower sections. A broad swing handle arches neatly over the top, giving the piece a clean, balanced silhouette and making it easy to carry. Small hallmarks are present but are difficult to read clearly. The form and detailing closely resemble examples by Saint-Médard, so an attribution to the French maker is possible.
The silvered surface shows light scratches and gentle wear from age and use, with an attractive softly mottled patina that gives the bucket depth and character. The interior is more heavily worn and darkened, with areas of oxidation that contrast nicely with the brighter exterior.
Its restrained, elegant design makes it particularly versatile on a bar, drinks trolley or dining table. The combination of polished metal, subtle patina and linear detailing gives it an understated vintage elegance.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
