This vintage silvered metal wine bottle holder is formed in an elongated oval shape, its finely woven wire construction designed to echo traditional wicker baskets. The sides are worked in a tight, even lattice that feels both light and resilient, rising to an open, airy rim defined by neatly braided wire. Two rope-twist handles are securely anchored at either side, their gentle arc providing balance and allowing the bottle to be poured directly from the holder. Dating to the mid-20th century, the basket remains sturdy and functional, comfortably accommodating most standard wine bottles, though unusually wide or non-traditional forms may not fit. The surface retains a bright, softly reflective silver finish, enlivened by a very light patina that settles into the woven intersections and braided edges, subtly emphasizing the depth of the workmanship without dulling its sheen. Close inspection reveals faint surface scuffs, slight tonal variation, and a few minor bends along the rim, all consistent with age and careful use and contributing to its authentic vintage character.
Elegant yet practical, it brings a refined, understated note to a dining table, bar cart, or picnic setting. Set it on a bar cart or sideboard to present a favorite vintage, or repurpose it as a caddy for flatware, napkins, or small blooms on a table. The gentle sheen and fine texture add quiet elegance to kitchens and dining spaces, pairing beautifully with linen, crystal, and warm woods.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
