This petite mid-century table lamp features a classic diabolo double-cone shade in perforated metal, finished in bright yellow with rope-twist edging. Joined by a brass collar and carried on a slender arched arm above a circular base with yellow enamel mount and push-button switch, it carries a mellow patina with touches of oxidation and scattered paint losses that lend authentic vintage character and charm.
In the style of Mathieu Matégot (1910–2001), a celebrated figure of mid-century French design, the lamp reflects the playful elegance of postwar modernism, where perforated metal and bold lacquer combined lightness with sculptural clarity. The yellow shade brings a vivid pop of color, while its perforations cast a patterned glow that enlivens a desk, bedside, or console. Today it adds cheer and sophistication to interiors, punctuating wood, stone, or brass with a measured touch of mid-century French charm.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
