This listing is part of the 'At Home with Patricia Wells' collection of epicurean objects and decorative antiques.
This superb antique French 'maigre gras' white porcelain sauce boat features pretty traces of its original gold trim with the letters M and G on each beak in black, indicating where to pour the 'Maigre', sauce, and 'Gras', grease. It comes from Chanteduc, the home of Patricia and Walter Wells in Provence. The design is ingenious - the fat in gravy and sauces separates, rising to the top, so you are able to choose whether you wish to indulge in the fattier sauce or not!  A rare find, Patricia loves them and has collected three similar pieces over her lifetime.
