Introducing a beautifully crafted coffee table designed in the 1970s by the renowned furniture designer, Peter Ghyczy (1940-2022).
Made of glass with weighty bronze legs, this extraordinary piece of furniture showcases Ghyczy's signature style and attention to detail. For his first furniture collection, Ghyczy developed a new way of fixing glass to metal, which resulted in a series of coffee tables , side tables , and dining tables known as the Pioneer Series (1970s). The technique used on the tables has since become Ghyczy's signature, and is exemplified particularly through the delicate, floating appearance of the frameless glass, which is secured with a single screw.
As an acclaimed architect and designer, Peter Ghyczy's prolific career has pioneered techniques of furniture making that have influenced the design industry for 45 years. His son, Felix Ghyczy, joined the practice in 2001 and continues to build on the GHYCZY
heritage from their family atelier nestled in the flatlands of Swalmen, the Netherlands. Made with only the highest quality materials by local producers, GHYCZY designs are made to outlive generations and remains a luxury brand for design lovers. Designs from the 1970s are highly sought-after by collectors. The GHYCZY logo mark can be seen tastefully applied as four G"s which resemble a grid of four squares from a distance but up close you can see where the lines break to make an angular 'G" repeated four times.
