This gilded brass candelabrum is a graceful example of late nineteenth century devotional metalwork, likely made for a church or private chapel. The arched structure is enriched with Gothic Revival tracery, pierced quatrefoils, and delicate scrolls, all arranged with a lightness that gives the piece an almost architectural elegance. A row of deep red glass cabochons accents the arc, catching the light and adding a jewel-like glow. The seven candle cups move slightly and are not perfectly straight, a familiar feature of hand assembled candelabra from this period. The stem rises from a weighted base that ensures stability and carries a soft, timeworn patina that enriches the warmth of the brass.
Placed on a console, a sideboard, or the center of a dining table, this candelabrum offers both sculptural presence and atmospheric illumination. The tracery casts delicate shadows that shift with candlelight, while the red cabochons lend a sense of opulence and ceremony. Whether used for festive gatherings or as a decorative focal point in a living room or entry hall, it offers a touch of drama and a subtle historical note that deepens the character of the space.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
