A charming small two-arm candelabra in silvered brass, richly inspired by the exuberant curves of the Rococo style. The scrolling branches unfold in fluid asymmetrical lines adorned with delicately cast acanthus leaves and floral motifs, while the tulip-shaped candle cups rest on elegantly flared drip pans evocative of 18th-century French decorative arts. The softly shimmering surface, with its warm coppery undertones visible beneath the silvered finish, gives the piece remarkable depth and character. Timeworn patina and gentle wear further enhance its antique charm, highlighting the finely modeled details throughout the base and scrolling stem.
Stamped to the base with the mark “A. Frenais,” the candelabra was produced by Parisian silversmith Armand Frénais, active between 1877 and 1927. Renowned for producing refined silver-plated decorative objects in historic revival styles, Frénais was particularly associated with the elegant Rococo-inspired designs that flourished during the Belle Époque period.
Compact in scale yet highly decorative, it would bring elegance and atmosphere to a mantelpiece, dining table, or bedside. Its sculptural silhouette and richly ornamental character make it equally suited to classic interiors, romantic table settings, or eclectic decorative arrangements.
