This ovoid terracotta water jug, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, is finished in a lively deep green glaze that stops above the unglazed lower body and foot, leaving the warm clay exposed. A pronounced rounded handle arches over the top opening, complemented by a short raised spout and a small opposing loop handle. The surface shows characteristic speckling and pooling in the glaze, with scattered losses and minor chips to the rim, spout, and handle attesting to age and use. Likely made in southwest France the jug belongs to a long tradition of rustic household pottery designed for carrying and cooling water. Its sculptural silhouette and saturated glaze give the piece strong decorative impact, making it well suited to kitchen shelving, a console, or a dining sideboard. It can be styled with olive branches, dried grasses, or citrus stems, or left empty to highlight its bold form and color. The earthy terracotta and green surface pair naturally with wood, stone, and linen, adding a measured Mediterranean note to both traditional and modern interiors.
