With its generous proportions and richly ornamented surface, this large porcelain lamp brings an unmistakable sense of classic French elegance to an interior. The vase shaped body is lavishly decorated with hand painted floral bouquets framed by deep cobalt blue panels and delicate gilt detailing inspired by traditional European porcelain designs. This refined decorative style was particularly popular among Paris porcelain manufactories such as Vieux Paris and Sèvres. No visible maker’s mark can be identified, likely hidden beneath the later brass mounting.
The porcelain body likely dates from around 1900, while the electrical fittings appear slightly later, suggesting the piece may originally have been conceived as a decorative vase before being converted into a lamp. Raised on a brass base and fitted with two bulb sockets, its large proportions make it a striking statement piece for a console, sideboard, or bedside table.
The porcelain remains in very good overall condition with no visible chips observed. Gentle wear and rubbing to the gilding can be seen in places, consistent with age and use, adding softness and authenticity to the overall appearance. The lamp only requires a shade to complete the ensemble, and we recommend that the electrical system be inspected and revised by a qualified electrician.
A richly decorative and timeless lighting piece, perfect for bringing warmth, character, and French refinement to both traditional and eclectic interiors.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
