A long, slender ceramic platter from Chanteduc, Patricia and Walter Wells's farmhouse and cooking school in Vaison-la-Romaine.
The glaze is a beautiful soft celadon, smooth and luminous across the wide, gently recessed surface, edged with a warm ochre border that follows the platter's slightly scalloped rim. The form is well-proportioned for a log-shaped cake, a row of petits fours, or a spread of olives and tapenade before dinner.
Patricia recalls that this platter was used for cakes and aperitifs at Chanteduc for years. Today it would be equally at home displayed on a kitchen shelf, used as a jewellery or key tray on a console, or brought out whenever a simple, beautiful surface is called for.
