The Exposition Universelle was held eight times between 1855 and 1937, the most famous in 1899 when the Eifell tower was built as part of the Exposition to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the storming of the bastille. This black and white photo was taken at the last exposition with distinguished guests taking a hot air balloon ride. Note the amphitheatre underneath. A rare find.
