Keraluc Hand-Painted Ceramic Candlestick by André L’Helguen - 13"

Sculptural and richly decorated, this ceramic candlestick was hand-painted at the Keraluc workshop in Quimper, Brittany by André L’Helguen (1935–2017) during the 1960s. The tall, stacked baluster form is articulated with rounded tiers and raised bands, each section animated by stylised florals, foliage, and folkloric motifs. Painted in a lively palette of olive green, inky blue, soft pink, ochre, and ivory, the surface showcases L’Helguen’s confident handling of form and expressive brushwork.

The glaze retains a soft sheen with gently softened outlines and minor surface wear consistent with age and small irregularities from hand production.. Signed beneath the base, the piece remains in very good vintage condition. Like other works produced at Keraluc, it reflects the workshop’s distinctive ability to blend Breton decorative traditions with a modern, graphic sensibility that feels both rooted and fresh.
