This superb, large, walnut oil jar dates from the late eighteenth / early nineteenth-century. It is beautifully decorated with 'doigtier' ornamentation - a technique where the potter presses into the clay to make a chain like pattern. There are three handles and a pouring spout - it is in very good condition considering its age. It is a lovely size - larger than usual.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
