A rare and atmospheric large painted hanging dating from the 18th century and originating from Aix-en-Provence. Executed on canvas sewn together from several sections before being painted, it reflects the artisanal methods traditionally used for large decorative textiles and wall hangings of the period. The composition depicts a serene landscape framed by an abundant floral border, with towering trees opening onto a distant architectural scene and tranquil water.
