This magnificent custom boiserie wall wardrobe dates back to the end of the eighteenth / early nineteenth century, Italy. The history of this piece is that it was likely made for a home's salon as built-in storage. Therefore, when removed from its original wall, the back was redone.
Retaining its black finish, all panels are original and show some signs of wear. There are four upper cabinet doors and four smaller cupboard doors below. There are two shelves on the interior of the upper cabinets for a total of three levels to use for storage in the top portion. The bottom cupboards open as well for additional storage. See notes for keys and functionality below. The lovely patina and shelving can be seen in detail in the photos. This would be a stunning storage piece addition to both classic and modern interiors.
Functionality notes: The middle left top cabinet will require repair to enable the door to open. The interior is accessible from the other doors which all open at the top and bottom and keys function. The repairs will be completed by a local artisan prior to dispatch.
Note the keys used on the left half of the wardrobe turn to the left to lock and to the right to unlock.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
