Dating from the early nineteenth century, this superb large mirror has a pretty, sculpted and gilded frame mounted on a wooden back. The mirror retains the original mercury glass with sublime foxing that is like a storm brewing! The glass is not clear enough to use for makeup, shaving etc.
This is a mirror to display as you would a painting. Note that the gadrooned frame has some losses and has been repaired and patched in parts as seen in photos.
Note: Mirrors have been photographed facing fabric, a technique that reveals any age spots in the glass. In some cases, this may create the appearance of an empty frame, but each mirror is complete except where explicitly stated.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
