A large French stoneware confit crock, probably dating from the early 20th century, with a simple, generously proportioned form and two angular, wing-shaped lateral handles set high on the shoulders. Its clean lines and restrained profile give the vessel a particularly strong presence, while the pale stone-grey glaze is enlivened by subtle variations in tone, pooling, and firing marks that bring depth and texture to the surface. A discreet banded decoration around the upper body adds quiet detail, while the exposed terracotta rim creates a pleasing contrast with the glazed surface.

This pot has a calm, sculptural quality that works across a wide range of interior styles. Left empty, filled with kitchen utensils, or planted with culinary herbs, it brings warmth and an authentic French country character to a room.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
