A rare 'conscience' jug with six handles from the nineteenth-century. It is from the Anduze region - an area famous for pottery. Note the unusual matte glaze. Rope was threaded through the six small loop handles for carrying or transporting on horseback or with a donkey.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
