A large hand-carved olivewood bowl with a wonderfully organic form that follows the natural movement of the wood. Substantial and weighty, it has a fluid, freely shaped outline, a softly worked interior, and richly figured grain enhanced by a deep, warm patina. Knots, fissures, and age-related cracks remain visible as part of the wood’s natural history without compromising the bowl’s solidity. One side bears an itriguing dark, looping mark that appears to have been deliberately applied, possibly a maker’s monogram or workshop mark, although it has not been identified.
The close relationship between craftsmanship and material is central to its appeal, with the carving following the wood’s natural irregularities and highlighting their organic beauty. Highly individual and almost sculptural in character, the bowl can be used as a centerpiece or fruit bowl, or simply left empty, bringing warmth and a strong natural presence to a table, console, or kitchen island. Its richly worked, tactile surface invites both a closer look and touch.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
