A generous Art Deco Philips Phililite pendant light from the 1930s, featuring bright white opaline glass with distinctive ribbed detailing. The shade is suspended from its original stepped copper gallery and chain, now showing a beautiful aged bronze sheen and finish. Small air bubbles visible within the glass testify to its age and mouth-blown manufacture. The light provides a soft, even glow free from glare, making it as suitable for a refined interior as for a commercial setting. It remains in very good condition, with attractive timeworn patina to the metal and opaline glass free of visible chips or cracks. Recently rewired to modern standards, it is ready to install by a professional electrician.
Opaline glass shades diffuse light because their semi-opaque composition scatters illumination, producing a soft, even glow with reduced glare and shadow. This made them especially prized in public interiors such as workshops, schools, and cafés in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
This nicely proportioned pendant brings quiet character to a kitchen island, entry hall, or dining nook, casting a flattering pool of light above wood, stone, or zinc surfaces. Its serene white and gently weathered brass harmonize with Provençal country rooms, pared-back lofts, and tailored contemporary spaces alike.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
