A large vintage French rectangular copper roasting pan from Chanteduc, Patricia Wells’s Provençal home and cooking school. Made in France and stamped by the maker, it comes directly from Patricia’s kitchen, where it has served for decades of family meals and classes. Patricia exclaims, “This is heaven, heaven, heaven! I used it in the wood-fired oven for roasts, especially "gigot" (leg of lamb) with herbs, olive oil and potatoes.” Its generous footprint and high sides speak to real work at the stove and at the table.
Crafted in heavy-gauge copper with substantial iron handles secured by broad rivets, the pan offers steady, even heat. The bright tin interior was professionally re-tinned in Normandy and is ready for service. Outside, a rich, flame-darkened patina reflects countless roasts and gratins, the sort of honest wear that marks a trusted tool. Rooted in Patricia’s life between Paris and Provence, it embodies her intelligent simplicity, love of artisans, and a kitchen shaped by markets and gardens.
Put it back to work for roast poultry, winter vegetables or a celebratory leg of lamb. Or let the warm copper and timeworn surface add depth on a pot rack or sideboard, then carry it straight to the table for serving.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
