With softly rounded shoulders and a calm, elegant presence, this late 19th-century French giltwood mirror brings a warm, inviting glow to a room. The cushion-molded frame is enriched with engraved trailing flowers, and the gold leaf has mellowed into a rich patina with gentle wear that highlights touches of red bole beneath. Small, stable edge losses are present yet unobtrusive. The original mirror plate shows soft speckling and light age character while retaining clarity and functionality.
Made during the Second Empire (1852-1870), the mirror reflects the refined earlier Louis-Philippe profile with its gentle curves and understated grandeur. Timeless in style and versatile in scale, it hangs beautifully above a fireplace, entry console, or bathroom vanity in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Note: Mirrors have been photographed facing fabric, a technique that reveals any age spots in the glass. In some cases, this may create the appearance of an empty frame, but each mirror is complete except where explicitly stated.
