This late 19th century jar is from Castelnaudary and was originally used for storing grain, it would have had a wooden lid to seal it closed.
More recently a hole has been drilled in the base so that it can be enjoyed as a garden planter. There is a stamp reading Castelnaudary. Condition consistent with age and use.
