A late 19th century adjustable walnut stool with a warm, chocolate brown patina and gently dished circular seat. The seat rises on a hand turned wooden screw with ringed collar, set above three splayed legs and a lower platform that stabilizes the central post. With its adjustable screw mechanism, it recalls the ingenuity of studio seating developed for artists and craftsmen, combining utility with a quietly sculptural presence. The surface shows a pleasing timeworn character with scattered scuffs, small nicks at the edges, and traces of old finish, all consistent with age and use.
Equally suited as an occasional seat or a petite pedestal, it adjusts easily to accompany a reading chair, act as an unconventional bedside table, or elevate a sculpture or plant. Its compact scale and honest material bring grounded warmth to contemporary rooms, country kitchens, and collected spaces, where the rich walnut and tactile turning add quiet presence and a sense of history.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
