A French arch-topped wall mirror from the late 19th century, this piece presents the classic rounded rectangular silhouette of the Louis Philippe style, with a molded frame in a deep ebonized finish accented by delicate gilt decoration that adds a measured touch of opulence. Over time, the gilding has mellowed, and the contrast between black and gold has softened to a more nuanced effect. The glass remains clear and functional, with a slightly smoky reflection and scattered foxing consistent with age. The mirror and frame show small rubs and minor age wear, all in keeping with its timeworn character.
Equally at ease above a mantel, anchoring an entry, or layered on a console, the mirror brings height, atmosphere, and a grounded note of elegance. Its restrained palette integrates seamlessly into both contemporary and traditional interiors, pairing beautifully with dark paint, warm woods, or marble. Lean it for a relaxed vignette with candlesticks and books, or hang it to draw the eye and lend depth to a corridor. The softly aged plate remains functional, making it equally suitable for use above a bathroom vanity.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
Note: Mirrors have been photographed facing fabric, a technique that reveals any age spots in the glass. In some cases, this may create the appearance of an empty frame, but each mirror is complete except where explicitly stated.
