Military gift to servicemen, late-19th-century 15¼"

A decorative pitcher from the late-nineteenth century. This was a war trophy or 'Gourde de conscrit' given to military men in gratitude for their service. The top is decorated with a face wearing a hat and the Virgin Mary appears on the front.
