This tabletop dressing mirror dates from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century and presents a sober, architectural neoclassical design. Crafted in warm fruitwood, it is structured with slender turned columns accented by patinated brass collars and crowned with a shallow triangular pediment that gives the piece a restrained, temple like profile. The central mirror plate has been replaced and is clear and bright, and the middle section, originally conceived in the tilting psyche style, is now fixed in place. The inner surround has been painted black at a later date, creating a crisp contrast with the wood and reinforcing the mirror’s graphic lines.
This mirror works beautifully on a console, dresser, or vanity in the bedroom or bathroom. The architectural silhouette and sober tones give it a chic, composed presence that pairs easily with both antique and contemporary elements.
