Evoking the kitchens of southern France, this hand-thrown terracotta cooking pan has a rounded bowl, a sturdy side handle, and a soft straw-yellow interior glaze. Late 19th to early 20th century, it shows fire marks, gentle crazing, and a beautiful patina from long use. The rim has light wear with small nicks, the exterior shows soot spotting, and the handle is unglazed for grip, overall timeworn yet sound. Village workshops across the region produced these yellow-glazed culinary wares for open-hearth cooking, prized for their practical shape and steady heat.
At home in both rustic and refined kitchens, it can be displayed on open shelving or styled with fruit as a simple tabletop accent. The mellow glaze and visible wear bring warmth and authenticity, introducing an understated rustic note and a touch of Provençal history to a modern interior.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
