Lively Contemporary Hand-Painted Face Dessert Plate - 6¾"

Lively and characterful, this small contemporary handcrafted ceramic plate is hand-painted with a stylised face featuring mismatched eyes in soft yellow and deep blue, set beneath a bold plum-toned brow and a pale green accent. Confident black linework defines the features against a warm cream ground, while the glossy glaze enhances both colour and expression. The asymmetry of the composition gives the face a lively, slightly mischievous character, balancing humour with strong graphic clarity.

This plate is part of a larger hand-painted series, though each piece is entirely unique in colour and expression. Other plates from the same group are available here and sold individually. The underside is signed Gertrude, an artist based in Antwerp, a city long recognised for its artistic heritage and active contemporary scene. Condition is very good, with a bright glaze and the subtle variations inherent to handmade work.
